Oil…?

Wine…?

Water…?

Vinegar…?

Gethsemane means olive press. 🫒 It is the place where Jesus suffered the pressure of His task.

Sure, He endured more physical suffering in the hours that followed, but it was here that He was pressed.

The anointing came when His obedience met the pressures of this world and His will mirrored the will of the Father.

The anointing is the oil… The oil is the fuel that propels ministry throughout the Kingdom!

The winepress is remarkable. 🍇 It illustrates how crushing can produce something great.

King David emphasizes in Psalms 51 the agony of his crushing that became his contrite spirit.

Although King David had sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, he placed his sour fruit into God’s winepress and the wine of God’s salvation produced in him something greater.

Jesus was filled by “the living water” that flowed from His belly. 💧The Holy Spirit was upon Him and walked with Him.

When Jesus ministered, He began by emerging in water, served by washing the feet of His disciples, and saved all by the flowing of His blood mixed with water.

And when He thirst on the cross, He was given vinegar 😳 instead of water only solidifying the need for His task.

All three of these are presses that reveal an expectation of flow to come from it.

The olive press brings forth the oil of the anointing…

The winepress brings forth the wine that is Christ’s blood of salvation…

The sponge 🧽 on the hyssop branch should have sprang loose water to quench thirst but instead it was filled with vinegar…

So, I ask you… What is flowing from your pressing?

Is it the anointing reaching the kingdom in ministry?

Is it the fruit of the vine of Jesus that flows new wine of repentance?

Is it fresh living water of the Holy Spirit that brings grace, mercy, and forgiveness?

Or is it vinegar that is bitter, burns lips, and does not satisfy any thirst?

AGAIN I ask…

What is flowing from your pressing?
