Sometimes, we assume it is the enemy who leads us into a wilderness where we are tested and tried. But the truth is, God leads us also.

Exodus 13:17-18

“When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.”

But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle.”

A wilderness is designed to strengthen the vessel and expose the enemy’s plan against you. Often, it will also expose the areas in us that need deliverance. There was only one man that was tested, that did not expose error in His humanity–Jesus Christ.

Matthew 4:1-3

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

The text reveals that the Holy Spirit purposely led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the enemy. And after Jesus fasted, it exposed His humanity: “…He was hungry.” This also exposed the enemy’s plan against Him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy our purpose, worship, anointing, faith, hope, fight, mind, and will.  He would love to take our lives but he does not have that much juice; lest we give it to him.

Both Israelites and Jesus received their help (Moses and dove of Holy Spirit) just before they were tested.

Why?

To expose what, if any, would hinder or change their minds about Him.

Israel failed and therefore wandered for 40 years. But Jesus passed and the angels came and restored Him (Matt. 4:11).

God exodused the Israelites out of the hands of their adversary, but God also hardened Pharaoh’s heart to pursue them.

They went from bandage to a freedom with the Red Sea before them and Pharaoh on their tracks… Yet, God was faithful.

God made a way, out of no way by parting the Red Sea. This path was unusual and far from the familiar and close path of the Philistines. But, it was necessary.

God poured out His mercy … Pharaoh retracted his …

God led His people through their way blocker, obstacle, fearfulness, trials… whilst their past, struggles, insecurities, pain and suffering were on their heels.

But God didn’t stop there!

God not only led them through, He brought Pharaoh to the very same obstacle He brought Israel through.

But this time, God let go and  Pharaoh received what he gave–no mercy.

How many of you are exodused yet still being pursued by Pharaoh?

How many of you are faced with a Red Sea with your past running closely behind you?

Rest assured saints, God is parting your Red Sea and sustaining your Pharaoh in your past.

Walk through on dry land!

And watch God lead your enemy TO what He led you THROUGH!

God bless!
